Sometimes you have to drive through the desert for a very long time before getting to your destination.
I heard Salem King recently say “some years are for beginning, some years are for ending. And some years? They are simply continuations. No exciting launch, no fiery love, no big break, no grand arrival, no celebration. Just one ordinary day, unremarkable day after another”
And no words could have captured my 2025 better than this.
Few days before I saw his post, I spent some time thinking but couldn’t really find anything the world will deem has “exciting” or ‘‘a year well spent.”
It was just one ordinary day after another, but those ordinary days brought me peace, clarity, laughter, love, it taught me lessons that I wouldn’t have learnt in a rush or in the spotlight.
Honestly, continuation and consistency is always the hardest thing for me. And I am only just realising that 2025 tested me in the most simplest ways possible.
So yet again, I am hitting next episode in 2026, because this is the story of my life, it’s not just a year, it’s a journey and sometimes you have to drive through the desert for a very long time before getting to your destination.
New year new me? No!
It’s just me. Finishing the things I started. Going harder at the things I do. Picking up the things I left behind. Staying on the same course, no need to reinvent myself because my seeds didn’t yield fruits last year. It does take time for an orange tree to be an orange tree!
And maybe that is what you need too, to continue, not to breakdown everything you’ve built, not to start over. Just to continue!
